Children’s choirs from across Qatar showcased their singing prowess during the launching of the fourth and biggest yet edition of the country’s only competition of the kind. Now called ‘Qatar School Choir of the Year’ (QSCoY), the competition has extended to welcome children aged five to 14.

The competition participated by the host school Doha College, Doha English Speaking School, King’s College Doha and Dukhan English School was launched at the Qatar National Convention Centre which will also serve as the competition venue. Aside from the new and larger world-class location, the competition also features new categories and format.

The principal of Doha College Dr Steffen Sommer is looking forward to the participation of more schools after the extension of the age limit of participants. Sommer is also thankful for the support of their alumni and Competition Ambassador Dana Al Fardan. Al Fardan composed the song ‘Wings of the Falcon’ which served as the anthem of the competition.

We are extremely grateful to Dana Al Fardan for making the time available to support the choir competition every year. QSCoY is enjoying increasing popularity, to the extent that this year it is being held at the Qatar National Convention Centre, the only place that is now big enough to hold the masses. We are very much looking forward to it and Doha College, as ever, is very proud to be the host.’
