Eight teams from the two campuses of Doha College swept the podium at the recent Indoor Athletics competition organised by Qatar Private Primary Schools Sports Association (QPPSSA). QPPSSA is an inter-school programme that organises sporting events and activities enjoining its 29 member schools from across Qatar.

The indoor athletics competition engages students from Years 3 to 6, and they compete in ten events, such as balance, long jump, speed bounce, target throw, hi-stepper, chest push, vertical jump, shuttle run, soft javelin and standing triple jump.

Doha College West Bay teams, who competed in the Northern Division won gold for Years 4, 5 and 6, while their Year 3 walked away with silver. Doha College Al Waab competed in the Midlands Division, taking gold across all year groups.

This string of victories is a testament to the quality of physical education delivered at Doha College, which value fitness and health as much as examination results. Focus on fitness and health is evident through the many sports-related enhanced curriculum activities, including triathlon, fencing and tennis. DC also runs other initiatives such as ‘Everybody Run a Mile’, ‘DC Lifestyles’, and the popular ‘Doha College Race’, now one of the most anticipated annual event in the country’s sporting calendar.
