The Ministry of Transport and Communications (MOTC) announced the start of the Doha Metro Green Line trial operation starting next week, 10 December. The line extends from Al Mansoura to Al Riffa (Mall of Qatar). The opening of the Green Line completes the pilot operation of all Doha Metro lines.

The Green Line, which runs across east to west of Doha, includes 11 stations: Al Mansoura, Msheireb, Al Bidda, The White Palace, Hamad Hospital, Al Messila, Al Rayyan Al Qadeem, Al Shaqab, Qatar National Library, Education City and Al Riffa (Mall of Qatar).

This line will help ease travel for football fans commuting to the Education City stadium, which will host the FIFA Club World Cup final on 21 December. The stadium will be inaugurated on Qatar National Day, 18 December.

Operation timings for the Green Line will be the same as those for the Red and Gold Lines – Saturday to Thursday, 6 am to 11 pm, and on Friday, from 2 pm to 11 pm. Shoppers heading to the Mall of Qatar can take the Green Line and get down at the Al Riffa station. Doha Metro users can also switch between the Red, Gold and Green line at Musheireb Station.

To cover a wider range and serve more neighbourhoods and areas adjacent to the stations, new routes will be allocated to the Metro Link service, the shuttle bus service transporting  passengers from neighbouring areas to and from the metro stations.
