Education City Golf Club Hosts Amateur Golf Gala for Volvo Car Owners
Golf is already a ‘social distancing’ sport and has been extremely popular, allowing people to exercise and enjoy the sport in the outdoors.
Volvo National Sports Day Stableford
First up was the official tournament, which saw ECGC members compete to be crowned the champion of the Volvo National Sports Day Stableford. The individual Stableford format double teed at 6:20 am and continued until late afternoon. Winners were crowned in the amateur categories with three positions in each. The day concluded with fun games and activities for all participants.
The overall winner of Division A was young junior golfer Daniil Sokolov who scored an impressive 39 points playing off a 12 handicap. In Division B, the winner was Abdul Rashid Mordiffi, edging out Ronan Kelly in second place on a countback with 40 points.

In addition to the tournament, ECGC also offered golf lessons for Volvo car owners. Most of the car owners had no prior experience playing golf, so they were given a one-hour lesson on the basics where they learned how to putt. They later had the opportunity to put their newly-acquired golfing skills to the test with some fun golf activities.
According to Domasco Volvo Managing Director Faisal Sharif, they wanted their customers to have a safe and unique experience during the National Sports Day and golf was a perfect choice. They are glad to emphasise the importance of sport and to enhance awareness among members of the community.
He added that they followed all COVID safety measures during the event.
