The Education City Golf Club (ECGC) is taking part in a global event that encourages women and girls to try golf for the first time, while experienced lady golfers can play and engage with other women interested in the sport.

Women’s Golf Day (WGD) is a single-day event scheduled to introduce new female participants to golf and celebrate existing players irrespective of race, religion, language, ethnicity, or location.

WGD has become a global movement and celebrates women and girls learning golf skills that last a lifetime and part of a larger global community.

According to ECGC Sales and Marketing Manager Gordana Popovic Vincic, they decided join the global event to promote a healthy and sporty lifestyle among women and girls in Qatar.

Golf is an excellent sport for losing weight and keeping fit. Golf supports mental health and helps fight depression and is  great to maintain mental focus as we age.

The World Women’s Golf Day this year features a virtual golf day on 2 June. Education City will broadcast an online discussion with Catriona Mathew, Solheim Cup Captain 2019 and 2021 and ECGC General Manager Michael Braidwood. The online discussion will be partnering with In the Game and will also discuss relevant topics on women’s golf and health featuring female golfers in Qatar.

Growing the Game

One of missions of ECGC is to grow the game of golf in Qatar and the female sector remains an untapped group. The club is well equipped to introduce people to the game of golf with expansive training facilities which offer a step by step pathway into the game of golf. The friendly club is proud of its relaxed and welcoming culture and its mantra that anyone can try golf.

The women in golf charter was launched by the golf’s governing body last year to encourage golfing bodies and clubs to pledge support to this important initiative. This aligns directly with  the mission of ECGC and will really help drive participation.

The second part of the Women’s Golf Day will be a physical golf event in September designed to engage lady golfer and potential lady golfers at the course.

Women’s Golf Day is unique, there is nothing like it in sports, a one-day sporting and community event that unites women through golf across the globe for 24 hours straight, transcending race, religion, language and geography. The Education City Golf Club can’t wait to be part of it.

📌 World Women's Golf Day is taking place on the 2nd June and we are excited to be part of the global initiative with other clubs around the world. The initiative consists of a virtual day in June with an additional golf event in September. This week on Tuesday, we will be hosting an online podcast In The Game to discuss Women's Golf and the development of the game Qatar. Stay tuned! #WomensGolfDay #WGDunites #Playlifebetter #Qatar
