The Education City Golf Club (ECGC) successfully hosted the inaugural Qatar edition of the Maxx Royal Cup, a tournament qualifier typically contested with over 2,000 golfers competing in a total of 35 tournaments around the world. ECGC has been added to the list of events on the tournament’s annual schedule.

With 35 events in Europe, the Middle East and Asia, the Maxx Royal Cup is now in its fifth year, and considered one of the most important golf events each year in amateur golf.

The tournament at Education City Golf Club was played as an Individual Stableford tournament over the 18 Hole Championship Course. Zander Stramrood won the overall tournament by scoring an impressive 43 Stableford points, defeating over 100 players to win a Turkish Airlines Business Class Flight and a special trip to the Maxx Royal Cup Finals  in Belek, Turkey.

Stramrood said he is very excited to be visiting Turkey and is looking forward to participating in the Maxx Royal Cup to represent Qatar and the Education City Golf Club.

I would like to thank Turkish Airlines and Maxx Royal for a wonderful prize and opportunity to participate in a global competition at a world class venue in Belek, Turkey. Secondly, thanks to ECGC for bringing this opportunity to golfers in Qatar, and to the agronomy team for giving us a championship course in magnificent condition to compete on.

We are happy to host Stramrood for four nights in one of the splendid suites, all inclusive of food and beverage. We are sure that Zander will enjoy three rounds on our famous Montgomery Golf Course.

The 2021 edition of the Maxx Royal Cup is already prescheduled to be played in Education City Golf Club on 27 November next year.
