Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development’s (QF) recently unveiled Education City mosque is set to continue its lively schedule of activities during the remaining nights of Ramadan, with a thoughtful series of religious prayers and lectures from some of the most prominent Islamic scholars in the region high on the agenda.
Organised by QF, the religious activities are free to attend and open to members of the public, as part of the organisation’s efforts to foster community spirit and bring Muslims together during the holy month.
In addition, by hosting an impressive array of thoughtful, globally-renowned speakers, QF is hoping to promote better understanding of Islamic identity and values, whilst furthering its core mission of transforming the nation into a knowledge-based economy with Islamic values at its core. In doing so, QF is continuing its support of the Qatar National Vision 2030, which seeks a secure and prosperous future for the country and its people.
Located at the Qatar Faculty of Islamic Studies (QFIS), within Hamad bin Khalifa University (HBKU), the stunning 1,800 capacity mosque has already hosted a number of lectures during the first ten days of Ramadan.
Amongst the prominent scholars to have spoken at the mosque thus far include Sheikh Dr Omar Abdelkafi, Sheikh Dr Ayed Al Qarni, Sheikh Dr Salman Al Oudah and Sheikh Dr Khalid Al Jubair.
Over the next few days, the impressive schedule is set to continue with a number of well-known imams leading the daily Taraweeh prayers – including Sheikh Abdullah Al Nemah, who will speaking on the 19th and 20th nights of Ramadan.
Another highly anticipated speaker is Sheikh Mohammed Al-Qahtani, who will lead the Taraweeh prayers on the 21st and 22nd evenings. He will then be followed by the well-respected Sheikh Mohammed Al Barrak who will take the reigns from the 23rd night until the 27th night.
As the Holy Month comes to a close, Sheikh Mohammed Al Qahtani will return once again to lead the prayers until the final evening of Ramadan. On this blessed night, Sheikh Abdulwali Al Arkani and Sheikh Faleh Al Hajri will take the Qiyam prayers and conclude the recitation of the holy Qu’ran.
Presentations will be held after the Aasr and Taraweeh prayers conducted by Sheikh Dr Ali Al Qaradaghi, Sheikh Dr Tarek Al Hawas and Sheikh Dr Sultan Al Hashmi.
To help ease access to the mosque, QF is providing transport to the mosque with regular buses running within Education City throughout the evening.
Meanwhile, interpretation services are on offer by QF – to ensure that even non-Arabic speakers can experience the wisdom of the speakers. In addition, a dedicated crèche facility is open for the young children of families who wish to attend the religious activities.
