Eid al Adha, also known as the ‘Feast of the Sacrifice’, is the second most important event in the Islamic calendar. Muslim families come together to honour the willingness of Ibrahim (also known as Abraham) to follow God’s command to sacrifice his son. It’s a very special occasion and usually includes sacrificing an animal, giving to charity and visiting family and friends.
As many residents are expected to spend the Eid Al Adha in Qatar because of travel restrictions brought on by COVID-19, various venues and destinations, including shopping malls, offer a selection of festivities that are designed for the enjoyment of the whole family.
The Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) already announced the readiness of beaches and public parks for visitors, calling the public to adhere to all COVID-19 precautionary measures to ensure the safety of everyone. A number of hypermarkets and shopping malls have also started offering attractive discounts and promotions as part of the Eid celebrations.
Widam Food Company also announced that they are well prepared for the special holiday. The abattoirs will be working throughout the whole week under the supervision of specialised veterinarians to ensure the safety of everyone during Eid Al Adha.
The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) issued a reminder to citizens and residents for their safety during this celebration.
