According to accurate astronomical calculations conducted by specialists, Monday, 2 May, is the start of the month of Shawwal and the first day of Eid al-Fitr this year. The announcement was made by Qatar Calendar House.

The legal decision on the start of the month of Shawwal for this year remains within the jurisdiction of the Crescent Sighting Committee at the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs in the State of Qatar.
