Under the patronage of the Minister of State for Energy Affairs and Qatar Petroleum President and CEO, HE Saad Sherida Al Kaabi, the country’s energy sector recently held its 19th Annual Qatarization Review Meeting, attended by senior executives and representatives from 35 participating companies under the Energy Sector Strategic Qatarization Plan, as well as senior executives from Qatar’s education community.

The minister highlighted the importance of Qatarisation in aligning the energy sector with Qatar National Vision 2030 and expressed pride in the accomplishments of Qatari nationals who are now leading the various components of the energy sector and who now serve as its backbone.

Over the last 19 years, we have witnessed almost a three-fold growth in the number of approved establishment positions accompanied by a triple increase of Qataris employed in the sector.’

Al Kaabi shared his appreciation of the Qatarisation programme and acknowledged the learning and development opportunities offered to Qatari nationals in the sector.

Qataris are the future of the energy sector and they will continue to be at the forefront of our priorities.’

He said that the sector should continue working closely with higher educational and technical institutions to align the country’s requirements and needs.

11th Annual Qatarization Awards

This year’s Annual Qatarization Review Meeting featured a number of presentations that highlight the sector’s progress in terms of implementing strategies to develop local human resources and build stronger relationships with the education sector.

At the end of the meeting, the sector’s 11th Annual Qatarization Awards were presented to honour companies who exhibited Qatarisation excellence in 2018.

Recipients of the Qatarization Crystal Awards include Qatar Petrochemical Company (QAPCO) for Support and Liaison with the Education Sector; Dolphin Energy Limited for Supporting Qatarization; Qatar Gas Transport Company Limited (Nakilat) for Support for Training and Development; and Qatar Shell for Best Qatarization Progress.

Annual Qatarization Certificates were also presented to Qatargas for Support and Liaison with the Education Sector; Qatar Fertiliser Company (QAFCO) for Supporting Qatarization; and Gulf Helicopters Company for Support for Training and Development.

Qatarization Review Meeting 2
