Engieer Saad Sherida Al KaabiEngineer Saad Sherida Al Kaabi has been appointed as Qatar Petroleum’s new Managing Director.

Over the past four decades, QP has spearheaded the development of Qatar’s oil and gas industry, and its extensive operations have resulted in an unprecedented range of achievements for Qatar, which has the world’s third largest gas reserves. Today, Qatar is recognised as the world’s No. 1 exporter of liquefied natural gas (LNG) with its production capacity of 77 million tons per annum, and it is also known as the global capital of gas-to-liquids (GTL) products.

Engineer Al Kaabi joined Qatar Petroleum (QP) in 1986 as a student studying Petroleum & Natural Gas Engineering at Pennsylvania State University (Penn State) in the USA. In 1991, he graduated with a Bachelor of Science (BSC) degree in Petroleum & Natural Gas Engineering.

Qatar Petroleum QP logoImmediately after graduation, he joined QP’s Reservoir & Field Development Department, where he progressed through various petroleum engineering, technical, commercial and supervisory positions. He then became the Manager of Gas Development responsible for North Field management and development, where he and his team played a key role in the rapid launch of many mega gas projects based on the most up-to-date technologies, which were implemented in record time, making a major contribution towards Qatar’s rapid rise to becoming the LNG and GTL capital of the world; as well as several large gas pipeline projects domestically and for export.

From 2006 until this appointment, Engineer Al Kaabi was the Director of QP’s Oil & Gas Ventures Directorate, where he was overseeing all of Qatar’s oil and gas fields’ developments as well as all the exploration activities in Qatar.

Qatar is a reliable energy supplier to customers in all corners of the world, and with the operations of QP’s various subsidiaries and joint ventures, the country’s product portfolio has expanded to include not only crude oil and natural gas but also various petrochemicals, refined products, fertilisers, fuel additives, helium, and many other products.
