Baya Mahieddine: An Exploration of Color and Nature Exhibition

The exhibition features a window into the life and work of Algerian artist Baya Mahieddine, part of the activities under the Qatar-MENASA Year of Culture 2022. Considered to be one of the most important Algerian artists of her time, Baya’s artistic career spanned nearly six decades and was marked by the post-World War II period, the Algerian War of Independence and the Algerian Civil War.
The exhibition showcases a selection of 18 works that are intertwined with Baya’s lifelong themes to reveal the fictional and non-fictional elements that continued to resonate throughout her work until the very end.
