2024 EMPOWER: The Role of Youth in Time of Conflict
For the past fifteen years, the EAA’s annual EMPOWER Youth Conference, hosted by Reach Out To Asia (ROTA), has gained international recognition as a platform where young leaders engage in experiential learning and exchange ideas with peers who share their passions.
In light of ongoing conflicts worldwide, such as those in Gaza, Sudan, and Ukraine, humanitarian crises have emerged, demanding immediate attention and action. ROTA acknowledges the necessity for youth-driven advocacy and humanitarian efforts to aid communities affected by these conflicts. Moreover, ROTA emphasises the importance of harnessing the solidarity and creativity of young people to understand these crises and devise effective responses.
Hence, the theme for EMPOWER 2024 will center on ‘The Role of Youth in Times of War and Conflict.’ Given the current global landscape, ROTA views EMPOWER 2024 as a crucial platform to underscore the significance of involving youth and to facilitate constructive discussions on Qatar’s youth response to conflicts worldwide.
EMPOWER 2024, scheduled from 25 to 27 April in Doha, will bring together 250 youth aged 16 to 30 from Qatar. The conference will feature keynote speeches and panel discussions led by global youth leaders, expert-led workshops, interactive sessions, networking opportunities, and an exhibition showcasing artwork related to the theme, crafted by local artists.
