FIFA Club World Cup Qatar 2020™
February 4 - February 11
Qatar will host the FIFA Club World Cup Qatar 2020™ from 4 to 11 February 2021, after it was postponed earlier last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Six continental confederations, as well as the host nation’s league champions, will compete in the tournament, which will be held across two FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ stadiums – Ahmad Bin Ali and Education City.
In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, Qatar, the host country, and FIFA will provide the required safeguards to protect the health and safety of everyone during the competition.
The recent draw in Zurich mapped out the road for the six clubs competing in the FIFA Club World Cup Qatar 2020™. Tigres UANL and Ulsan Hyundai FC will face each other in the first game scheduled on 4 February at 5 pm (3 pm CET) at Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium, while Al Duhail SC and Al Ahly SC will feature in the second match at 8:30 pm (6:30 pm CET) at Education City Stadium.
CONMEBOL Libertadores champions (to be crowned on 30 January) will take on the winners of Tigres UANL VS Ulsan Hyundai FC on 7 February, with FC Bayern Munich facing the winners of Al Duhail SC VS Al Ahly SC. The FIFA Club World Cup 2020 champions will be crowned following the final match at Education City Stadium on 11 February.
Seven referees and 12 assistant referees have been selected for the tournament. FIFA has also selected seven video match officials (VMO) to operate the VAR during the tournament. The appointment of the female trio led by Edina Alves Batista continues the path started at the FIFA U-17 World Cup India 2017, where Swiss referee Esther Staubli officiated one game, followed by Uruguayan referee Claudia Umpierrez who officiated two games at the FIFA U-17 World Cup Brazil 2019.
