Growing Kopi, Drinking Qahwa; Stories of Coffee in Qatar and Indonesia

Organised as part of the Qatar-Indonesia 2023 Year of Culture, in collaboration with the National Museum of Indonesia, this Coffee Exhibition highlights traditional and contemporary coffee cultures in Qatar and Indonesia through interactive and sensory experiences.

By approaching practices related to coffee growing, roasting, brewing, serving, and drinking in Qatar and Indonesia, the exhibition explores the world history of coffee trading and drinking and the social connections it creates. This global approach through local examples makes it an ideal showcase for culture enthusiasts and coffee lovers from all over the world.

• Latte Art Competition (for baristas) 2 December | 3 PM – 7 PM

Attention to all skilful baristas in Qatar! Exhibit your coffee craftsmanship in the Latte Art Competition. Seize the acknowledgement, the prizes, and the admiration of the coffee enthusiasts. Participate in the premier coffee showdown now.

• Coffee alternative – Date pits coffee  December | 11 AM – 2 PM  and 2 December | 3 PM – 6 PM

Discover a unique coffee alternative with the Drop-In Activity! Date pits have been used to brew a delightful beverage that is both decaf and delicious.

• A Story of Arabic Coffee 19 & 26 of December | 1 PM – 2:30 PM (English), 4 PM – 5:30 PM (Arabic)

Participants will learn about the history of Arabic coffee as well as the traditions, necessary equipment and rituals related to preparing and serving the Gahwa in Qatar.
