Camp introduces equestrian skills to youth ages 3 to 17
Al Shaqab, the world-class equestrian facility in Qatar, will offer its Ramadan Camp for the fourth year this 2017, giving children ages 3 to 17 the opportunity to participate in various equine-related activities. The camp, which is organised by Al Shaqab’s Equine Education Department, includes four week-long sessions running from 27 May to 22 June.
The camp will have two different sessions, the first taking place from 2:30 pm to 5 pm, and the second from 9 pm to 11:30 pm. Participants may decide which session they prefer to attend. Children aged 3 to 6 can take part in activities such as arts and crafts, pony rides, horsemanship, and horse games. Those between ages 7 to 17 will have access to daily riding lessons, plus a choice of two supplemental lessons in either basic grooming and feeding, lunge (balance), carriage (drive) or bucking horse. Both age groups meet six days a week throughout the session at Al Shaqab, a member of the Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development.
Al Shaqab Equine Education Manager Mohamed Sultan Al Suwaidi said they are excited to once again offer the Ramadan Camp to give young riders the opportunity to learn equestrian skills and become familiar with horses and riding. He said that these skills are crucial parts of Qatar’s history and heritage.
To ensure the best experience for young riders, the number of participants per week will be limited, therefore early registration is advised. Cost is QAR 600 per child per week for children ages 3 to 6, and QAR 900 per child per week for children ages 7 to 17.
Parents accompanying their children will have access to a special area with sports activities for themselves, including an indoor walking area, exercise mats, ropes stability exercise balls.
