About the Artist
Houmam Al Sayed currently lives and works in Beirut, Lebanon. He graduated from the Sculpture Department of the Institute of Applied Arts in Damascus in 2003 and moved to Beirut in 2011, where he continues work on his art extensively.
Known for his large-scale figurative paintings, Al Sayed focuses on expressive portraiture of anonymous characters in his oil paintings, ink drawings and bronze and clay sculptures. Al Sayyed’s training in traditional mediums allowed him to start exhibiting his skillful work as early as 17 years old at Teshrin University in Lattkia, Syria. Over the years his body of work became a subjective universe filled with people and memories from his past, which serve as an allegorical commentary on the social status of the Arab world to date.
