Vodafone Qatar is organising Treasure Hunts at Gulf Mall from 19 January – 21 March and at Hyatt Plaza from 26 January – 28 March that aim to inform parents about how to keep their children safe in the digital world and to encourage them to have an open dialogue with their children about these matters. The treasure hunts take place from 3 pm to 10 pm and involves a number of puzzles about the digital world today that parents need to solve in collaboration with their children to win great prizes.
This comes under the banner of AmanTECH, Vodafone’s aid programme for online child safety. Launched in May 2014, AmanTech, which stands for “safe tech world”, aims at promoting digital literacy amongst parents and improving children’s digital safety.
Vodafone’s first Treasure Hunt took place last year at Ezdan Mall followed by Dahl El Hammam Park throughout that saw the participation of thousands of families.
Dana Haidan, Head of CSR at Vodafone Qatar said:
At Vodafone we aim to empower parents and to help them equip their children with the right tools and understanding to navigate the digital world safely and to take full advantage of its benefits. We are committed to make AmanTech a long-term initiative that will provide people in Qatar with everything they need to know and do for their children in today’s ever-expanding digital world.’
In 2017, AmanTech will continue to reach out to parents and children ages 5 – 17. The programme will adopt a three-pronged approach with a focus on awareness, education and technical support.
This will entail ongoing school parental workshops, an online source for information and tips for parents vodafone.qa/AmanTECH, online magazines, in addition to digital parenting guide available online.
