150 companies from 20 countries will exhibit and will offer over 35 free and certified educational sessions
In a press conference held this week at the Marriott Marquis City Center Doha Hotel, dmg events (Doha) announced that the second edition of The Big 5 Construct Qatar will run under the patronage of HE Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior of Qatar.
The Big 5 Construct Qatar is backed by strategic partner Qatar National Tourism Council (QNTC) and will run at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre from 23 to 25 September. Renewed support to the country’s premier construction event comes following its successful launch in 2018, which facilitated business opportunities and international investments in Qatar’s US$75 billion construction project market.
Officials present during the press conference include dmg events President Matt Denton, dmg events Doha Country Manager Loubna Aghzafi, Ahmed Al Obaidli of QNTC, Ali Al Marri of Taleb Group, and Al Darwish Engineering Group Development Manager Ali Chahrour.
According to Denton, it is a great honour for The Big 5 Construct Qatar to receive once again the patronage of HE Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani.
With a mission to support the expanding requirements of Qatar’s construction, transport and infrastructure sectors, the event is proud to serve its strategic objectives and National Vision 2030.’
According to the latest MEED Projects report commissioned by The Big 5 Construct Qatar, the country’s long-term National Vision 2030 and preparations for the much-anticipated FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ continue to see increased construction demands.
Projects worth US$4.5 billion have been awarded in Qatar in the first six months of 2019, with just under US$5 billion worth of contracts currently being bid upon. Of the remainder, more than US$23 billion worth of projects are in the design stage and expected to come out for bid over the next 24 months, while projects valued at more than US$46 billion are currently in the study stage. All this indicates a healthy pipeline of construction activity in the country.
Al Obaidli stated that the business events sector is an important pillar of QNTC’s wider strategy to develop tourism in Qatar.
We value the contribution of business event organisers such as dmg events (Doha) in attracting both international and regional business players to the country. We look forward to welcoming construction professionals from around the world at The Big 5 Construct Qatar 2019. Here, they will be able to witness first-hand the opportunities generated by Qatar’s mission to create world-class infrastructure for citizens, residents and visitors.’
Qatar’s construction community will be able to source thousands of the latest products and solutions to meet the country’s future project demands. Offering a dedicated platform where international and regional construction players can meet face-to-face, do business and learn in Doha, the 2019 edition of the event will host at least 150 exhibitors from 20 countries.
More than just an exhibition, The Big 5 Construct Qatar will also provide industry professionals with invaluable learning opportunities in the form of over 35 free to attend CPD (Continuing Professional Development) certified courses. In 2018, over 5,000 construction professionals attended and received a CPD-certification at the launch edition of the show, which welcomed more than 12,000 visitors.
