FIA Annual General Assembly meeting starts today at Doha at The St. Regis Doha Hotel.

QMMF President and FIA Vice President, Nasser Khalifa Al Attiyah, expressed his pleasure for the start of the events of the 2014 FIA Annual General Assembly in Doha from 1 to 5 December 2014, with the participation of 163 members representing 116 countries and around 800 guests together with international media.

Regarding the meetings, Al Attiyah stated that he is very happy with the start of the event with the opening of the FIA Medical Summit, as it is one of the FIA main concern and interest to ensure the sudden rescue process and the safety aspects related to any international event organised under FIA organisation. Al Attiyah also stated:

Tomorrow, the second day of this meeting, will take place in Aspetar hospital to do some practical trials to identify the nature of these accidents the hospital usually deals with, as we in Qatar, we organise many local and international championships at Losail International Circuit and we have enough experience’

Jean Todt, FIA President and Professor Gérard Saillant, President FIA Institute, praised these preparations that QMMF has carried out for this event. Al Attiyah said:

Without doubt, this mention will motivate us in Qatar and Middle East and North Africa to continue our work. We are keen to invite a large number of physicians to attend these meetings to learn more from how to deal with accidents common in motorsport, because everybody knows that motorsport is a dangerous sport if the safety guidelines are not available.’

Al Attiyah also thanked Omar Alfardan for his hospitality for hosting this international event and thanked to all the media to spread this Qatar achievement to all over the world.
