First Hot Air Balloon Festival in Qatar Attracts Thousands of Spectators
The country’s first Hot Air Balloon Festival, which was held from 7 to 18 December at Aspire Park concluded successfully, attracting thousands of spectators who, for the first time, observed Qatar’s skies adorned with over 30 hot air balloons from at least 13 participating countries.
In addition to witnessing the majestic sights of this one-of-a-kind event, guests enjoyed various cuisines from the country’s best food brands, along with live music and entertainment for everyone.
The festival was organised by Safe Flight Solutions and Asfary.com, which earlier this year introduced the first Hot Air Balloon in Qatar as a tourism product.
According to Captain Hassan Al Mousawi, CEO of Safe Flight Solutions, they are honoured to have had the opportunity to host Qatar’s first Hot Air Balloon Festival. He said that they could not have had a more fitting time to conclude the Hot Air Balloon Festival than on 18 December, coinciding with the beginning of Qatar National Day celebrations.
Mariam Al Mousawi, Event Director of Qatar Balloon Festival 2019, the success of the event would not have been possible without their partners and sponsors which facilitated the smooth running of the festival. Their partners include Qatar National Tourism Council (QNTC), Aspire Zone Foundation (AZF), Qatar Airways, Hertz, and Celebrations Palace.
Al Mousawi added that with continued support of partners, they envisage to turn the festival into a global event, with more countries participating each year.
Jawaher Al Khuzaei, from QNTC, also lauded the festival.
Qatar’s first Hot Air Balloon Festival has been a great success, promoting a new tourism product for visitors and residents alike. We are pleased to see festival-goers experience the city from the ground as well as the sky and see our destination from a new perspective. We thank the organisers for the innovation and initiative, adding to Qatar’s growing calendar of world-class events and festivals.’
Abdulla Aman Al Khater, Director of Events and Facilities at AZF, also expressed how proud they are of the huge success of the festival and how it attracted the families during the National Day celebrations.
