Friday Brunch-ing at Mövenpick Hotel Doha

This is not the usual Instagram-ready places you go to on a weekend. For one, they have a special buffet laid out for young kids, with a big TV, colourful tables and chairs, and a face painting corner manned by two very patient staff.Kiddie station Movenpick Brunch

We picked out a table in the middle section, in between the kids and the older patrons, to get a good view of the buffet traffic (and the TV screen).

Starters

Japanese Section MovenpickThe buffet offers a mishmash of Asian, Arabic and Continental dishes, warm and filling and almost homey. One section was filled with fresh seafoods and sushi. The salads also offered a bit of a crunch, the greens and garden-fresh options making up for the limited selection. It’s a good start for a lazy brunch. Goes well with a good cup of coffee, too.

Next on our plate were the house pizzas. The older kids seemed to gravitate to the section, with each slice soft and chewy and cheesy.

Now for the Heavy Stuff

They have a carving station with roasted chickens and a chunky beef slab ready for slicing. You can opt to take the meat with rice or bread, but better not miss the Biryani Rice. And don’t forget to take some other dishes on the side. These are serious side dishes, mind you. But the meat and vegetable options are quite balanced, all tempting.

Desserts were laid on a separate section, like an island of sweets in the middle. Will it be cakes or small servings of gelatins and cream brûlée? Make sure to decide on your desserts before you approach the sweets. Or else you might end up taking only the fresh fruits (which is not at all bad considering), and yes, because they’re healthy!
