Souq Waqif Boutique Hotels (SWBH) celebrated the old Qatari tradition Garangao for the third consecutive year. Al Jasra Boutique Hotel was the venue where people witnessed the sheer delight on children’s faces guests who attended the event. SWBH hosted this festive evening to celebrate this important part of their Qatari heritage every 14th night of the Holy Month of Ramadan.  Copious gifts were given away.

Taleb Al Henzab, General Manager at Souq Waqif Boutique Hotels, said:

Garangao is a traditional national festivity held annually in mid-Ramadan. Exclusive to the Arabian Gulf, this event brings a unique occasion to the area for people of all ages to anticipate every year, as it allows them to participate and keep their customs and traditions alive. Garangao celebrations are passed down through generations as part of Qatar’s popular heritage that contributes to strengthening moral and social relationships between neighbours and family members, inspiring feelings of warmth and friendship. Despite tremendous urban development, Garangao night is still a wonderful tradition to be celebrated every year.’

He added:

We are very keen to share Garangao celebrations with children and guests for the joy it brings to them and we are delighted that every year more kids show up at our hotels to be part of the Garangao night festivities, encouraging us to provide an unforgettable family experience.’

The eventful Garangao night at SWBH included clown shows and entertainment activities, as well as face painting, henna patterns and gift giveaways.

Welcomed by SWBH employees, a large number of children poured in wearing their traditional clothes, happily smiling.
