The seventh meeting of Interior Undersecretaries of the GCC member states commenced in Qatar on 27 April 2015 at Sheraton Doha Resort & Convention Hotel.
The Director General of Public Security, HE Staff Major General Saad bin Jassim Al Khulaifi, presided over the meeting. He conveyed the greetings of the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, HE Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, to the meeting attended by the interior undersecretaries of the GCC countries, in order to promote and strengthen joint security cooperation.
According to Director General Al Khulaifi, the 7th undersecretaries’ meeting is organised in line with the collective responsibility against crime in its various forms and manifestations with the view of fighting it and preventing its spread to GCC communities, while taking into consideration the achievements that have been accomplished through the efforts and cooperation among the GCC states.
Al Khulaifi emphasised that such successes would encourage towards greater achievements in the field of security especially at the current situations in our region which made it obligatory on us to stand firm to confront them firmly to preserve people and their homelands.
Al Khulaifi referred to the security implications of the current situation in Yemen on GCC states and the importance of examining the effects that could be produced and then making the appropriate recommendations to face such implications. He prayed Allah to have grace on the GCC martyrs for the duty of protecting their homelands.
According to Major General Khalid Salim Al Absi, Interior Undersecretary of Bahrain, the countries in the region are facing security challenges that make it very necessary to unify as well as he lauded the leading role and efforts of Saudi Arabia in safeguarding security and safety in the region and fighting against extremism.
