General Directorate of Coasts and Boarders Security Opens GCC Coast Guard Week
HE Staff Major General Saad bin Jassim Al Khulaifi, Director General of Public Security opened the third GCC Coast Guard Week events on Wednesday, 14 October 2015. The event is organised by the General Directorate of Coasts and Boarders Security in collaboration with Lakhwiya and other departments of the Ministry together with private agencies working in naval security equipment and devices, under the slogan ‘For Your Safety, Cooperate With Us’.
Under the patronage of GCC Interior Ministers, the Coast Guard week is held in order to raise awareness to the sea goers and learn the naval safety and security procedures. The opening event was attended by directors of different departments of the Ministry and delegates of GCC Coasts Guard Departments.
Director General of the Public Security visited the pavilions of the participating agencies in the exhibition held as part of the coast guard week celebration. He said that the GCC Coast Guard week celebration would help to enhance the cooperation between the concerned departments in GCC countries through the exchange of information and experiences. The public can visit the exhibition held at Islamic Museum Park and understand the modern security procedures equipped by the Coast Guard Security and other agencies in the state.
Staff Brigadier (Navy) Ali Ahmad Al Budaid, Director General of the General Directorate of Coasts and Borders Security, said that the third edition of the GCC Coast Guard week is featured with the wider participation of different departments and private companies where they can showcase the latest naval security devices and equipment.
The public can visit the activities on Thursday from 9 am – noon and 4 pm – 8 pm and on Friday from 4 pm – 8 pm. Entertainment, educational and awareness activities will be held as part of the celebrations. Public can get practical information on safety procedures to be followed by sea goers, swimmers and watercraft riders. As well, the visitors will have opportunity for short sea trips in the boats of General Administration of Coasts and Borders Security.
The exhibition is participated by Coasts Guard Security Department, Civil Defence, Traffic, Lakhwiya, Al Fazaa, Medical Services Department, Permanent Committee for Drugs and Alcohol Affairs, Qatar Police Sports Federation, Penal and Correctional Institutions Department, Community Policing Department, Police Training Institute, Police Canine Section and other private agencies working in the field of naval security equipment.
