The establishment of the new office at QU is aimed at further developing the collaboration between QTTSC and GDT for a more efficient  exchange of information and consultancy on traffic safety. QTTSC and GDT will cooperate to develop awareness campaigns and new training programmes for drivers, and will run development programmes in coordination with international organisations and research centres. Other areas of collaboration include joint research projects in areas of transportation and traffic safety.

Following the inauguration ceremony, QTTSC and GDT also held a workshop focused on the topic: ‘Change in drivers’ behaviour and its effect on traffic safety’. The programme featured several presentations by experts from QU, GDT and the National Traffic Safety Committee.

Dr Khalifa Al-Khalifa said that the inauguration of the new office is part of the memorandum of understanding signed between QU and GDT last year. The collaboration hopefully, will reduce road traffic crashes and lead to the development of a safe road transportation system following the country’s National Road Safety Strategy.

Brigadier Mohammed Saad Al-Kharji expressed his gratitude to QU for its efforts to launch the GDT Office, and for providing studies, research and surveys that help find solutions to traffic safety challenges in Qatar.
