Government Offices to Reduce Number of Employees, Working Hours during World Cup
Starting from 1 November until 19 December, the number of employees in the government sector will be reduced to 20% – with 80% of employees working remotely. Working hours are set from 7 am to 11 am.
This decision was announced by the Cabinet in accordance with the country’s preparations to host the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™. The security, military, health, and educational sectors are excluded from these decisions.
Meanwhile, companies in the private sector will still operate regular hours as usual.
Public and private schools
The Ministry of Education and Higher Education also decided that the working hours of students and staff in public and private schools from 1 to 17 November will be as follows:
- Government and private schools will operate from 7 am until 12 pm
- Private nurseries and education centres for people with disabilities will operate as usual, before and during the World Cup
At the end of the first semester exams period – from 6 to 17 November – students in public and private schools will operate from 9 am until 11 am. The mid-year vacation will start on 20 November until 22 December.
