QatarDebate recently organised the Qatar Universities Debate League Nationals (QUDL) in English, held at Al Multaqa (formerly HBKU Student Center), with 16 participating teams representing seven institutions. The participants debated around five motions during the tournament.
The two-day event featured teams from the following universities: Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar, Hamad bin Khalifa University, Qatar University, Northwestern University Qatar, Georgetown University in Qatar, Texas A&M University Qatar, and Weill Cornell Medical College – Qatar.
Two award ceremonies were held in honour of the event – the first was the QUDL Nationals Awards Ceremony for winners of the nationals debate. Georgetown University in Qatar was awarded champions, followed by Qatar University.
Another QUDL Awards Ceremony was held to award winners of the league consisting of four league tournaments spread out between October 2018 and February 2019. Qatar University won as the best university. Participants received certificates of participation while the top ten speakers received certificates and medals for their debate participation.
