Hani Akkari celebrates his first anniversary as General Manager of Alwadi Hotel MGallery, successfully taking the helm over one of the most luxurious and innovative boutique luxury hotels in Qatar.

According to Akkari, it has been a great honour to lead the talented team at Alwadi Hotel MGallery and to deliver the most personalised and memorable experience for each of their guests.

Akkari has more than 15 years of experience at some of the world’s most recognised luxury properties in Europe and the Middle East. He has been the driving force behind the coveted third place of Alwadi Hotel MGallery on TripAdvisor in 2020, out of 175 hotels in Qatar.

Under his leadership, the hotel also won a host of accolades including Booking.com’s Traveller Review Awards 2020; TripAdvisor’s 2020 Travelers’ Choice Awards and Corporate Travel Awards‘  2020 Luxury Boutique Hotel of the Year.

The past year was a challenging one for the hospitality sector and the fact that Alwadi Hotel MGallery was able to cement its leading position in the competitive Doha market and win prestigious awards highlights the success of our strategy to adapt and build resilience.

Akkari proudly shared how they’ve managed to increase their business performance compared to 2019 – building on their popularity as a destination for staycations and weekend stays.

We can proudly say that we had no major redundancies and hired new team members during the pandemic and I am very proud of this.

The hotel’s strategic location in Msheireb Downtown Doha, connected to Souq Waqif also made it a popular destination for dining, says Akkari.

The hotel’s dining outlets are some of the most sought after destinations in Doha, offering the most exclusive views of the Corniche and Doha’s magnificent skyline. In addition, their luxuriously appointed rooms and suites and dining outlets, combined with their legendary service have positively resonated with the market.

COVID-safe environment

Akkari also worked hand-in-hand with Qatari authorities and his team to ensure the hotel provide a COVID-19 safe environment for guests and staff.

I am proud to announce that the hotel is ALL Safe certified.

The ALL Safe certification is Accor’s highly regarded COVID-19 safety programme, which the hotel started to implement on 17 June 2020. They are also ‘Qatar Clean’ certified by the Qatar National Tourism Council on 22 June 2020.

Ensuring to provide a safe and clean experience for all is a priority.

Looking forward to the next 12 months, Akkari said he was focused on continuing to create ‘Memorable Moments’ for his valued guests.

It’s an understatement to say that 2020 was unprecedented and as we move forward, we all have to adapt to the ‘New Normal’. What certainly has not changed is my commitment to driving our team to do better every day. In hospitality, it is truly a privilege to ensure our guests has the best experience possible from the moment they walk through our doors – that is what drives me.
