In a one-on-one interview with Charlie Rose of the famous 60 Minutes television programme in CBS News, Qatar’s glorious leader HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani speaks about the blockade and how he keeps the nation rising amidst the bullying of neighbouring countries.

In the interview, HH The Emir said that he did not expect the coming of the situation as they all sat in one room a few weeks before the blockade. Qatar is the only non-conformist member of the GCC. Its independence through media broadcasting Al Jazeera triggered the neighbouring countries to block the small yet richest country in the region. HH The Emir is firm that he will not shut down Al Jazeera just to appease with them.

HH The Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani said:

Our sovereignty is a red line. We don’t accept anybody interfering with our sovereignty. When you tell me to close a channel like Al Jazeera, history will write one day in 50, 60 or 70 years how it changed the whole idea of free speech in the region.’

He mentioned about the severed countries demanding Qatar to lose ties with new allies and their accusations of supporting terrorism.

HH The Emir also shared how he did not expect to become the heir to the throne but he accepted the title and now he’s standing tall for the nation.

He concluded:

If they’re gonna walk one metre toward me, I’m willing to walk 10,000 miles towards them.’
