Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) and Primary Healthcare Corporation (PHCC) have been named as the Cerner ‘Project of the Year 2014’ for their implementation of the Clinical Information System (CIS) at a number of facilities.
This award was presented to Dr AbdulWahab Al Musleh, Deputy Chief Medical, Academic and Research Affairs for CIS at HMC and Dr Juliet Ibrahim, Executive Director of Clinical Affairs and CIS Co-Chair at PHCC.
The award was given to both organisations by Mike Pomerance, Vice President and Managing Director for Cerner Middle East to mark their healthcare delivery achievements in the CIS Program.
The Project of the Year Award is given out once a year to a project that Cerner associates recommend from their personal observations. The winning project is always one where there has been a significantly positive impact on patient experience and where the benefits to patients have been prioritised and realised.
During the CIS go-live, staff in both HMC and PHCC demonstrated the most moving examples of dedication and commitment to their patients’ care, earning them this prestigious award.
The CIS is a comprehensive system-wide change, which has been designed in collaboration with clinicians. During the go live, the hospitals and clinics implementing CIS are replacing their existing paper patient clinical records system with a new electronic CIS. This process is being implemented in phases across HMC and PHCC. Once it is complete, all patient records will be stored and able to be accessed electronically across the two organisations.
During 2014, CIS was successfully implemented in Al Khor Hospital and Women’s Hospital in addition to three PHCC at Al Daayan, Al Gharafa and Omar Bin Khattab. This year, CIS implementations will continue with further hospitals and PHCCs in order to reach our goals and strategic visions for healthcare delivery in Qatar.
