Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) Health Professions Awareness and Volunteering Program recently organised workshops for students during the first semestral break to increase their knowledge and motivate the students to self-learn, and also provide them with important skills such as planning and goal setting.
Nine workshops were held in various venues within the Hamad Bin Khalifa Medical City and lasted from one to two weeks. At the end of each workshop, students received training and volunteering certificate accredited by HMC.
The Discovering Health Profession workshop provided the students with an overview of the roles and jobs performed by various hospital staff, including doctors, nurses and other support professions. The workshop also covered the role of different medical equipment in hospitals. The First Responder workshop covered a wide range of topics including medical emergencies, CPR techniques and basic first aid.
The workshop concluded with a presentation on the importance of health awareness at home and in the community.
