Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) has opened Home Healthcare Services’ new offices in Al Khor to accommodate patients living in the north of Qatar.
The offices will provide administrative support for Home Healthcare Services to patients and families from Al Khor and the surrounding region, which will serve as a base from which the healthcare teams will conduct their home visits.
The expansion comes as HMC continues to upgrade its public healthcare services as part of a facilities master plan that aims to enhance nationwide clinical services and focus additional resources on patient-centered care.
HE Dr. Hanan Mohamed Al Kuwari, the Minister of Public Health, said the new offices are part of a larger planned expansion of community-based health services across the country.
HMC Chief of Continuing Care Group Mahmoud Al Raisi, said that Qatar’s premier public healthcare provider has recently opened several community-based services for long-term care, mental health, and home-based care.
Over the past 18 months, HMC has established a number of community-based facilities to serve Qatar’s growing population, including the Enaya Specialized Care Center, the Enaya Continuing Care Center in Muaither, and an overall expansion of community-based mental health services. The Home Healthcare Services office in Al Khor continues this trend of bringing services closer to the community.’
Home Healthcare Services include home visits by doctors, nurses and allied health professionals who perform a variety of medical support procedures including oxygen administration, catheter changes and a number of therapies such as respiratory, physical, occupational and speech therapy, as well as other services.
HMC Assistant Chief Executive Officer, Home Healthcare Services, Khalid Al Qahtani, said that the new satellite office would facilitate timelier visits from HMC’s Home Healthcare Services team.
The Al Khor office enables the HMC Home Healthcare Services team to be more accessible to patients and families who live north of Doha, and also means they can provide more timely responses to patient needs in their homes.’
Patients or family members can request Home Healthcare Services and other related home healthcare resources by referral from their doctor. The service is available 7am to 3pm from Sunday to Thursday.
