Qatar’s National Health Strategy lead for Healthy Ageing and Medical Director of Rumailah Hospital and Qatar Rehabilitation Institute Dr Hanadi Al Hamad recently honoured the representatives of Bangladesh, Nepal and Indian community for their efforts in providing social and psychological support to patients of their respective communities.

HMC Honours Expat Groups 3

According to Dr Al Hamad, HMC provides treatment and rehabilitation services to all patients irrespective of their nationality or profession and in accordance with the highest international standards. She explained that patients who require rehabilitative care are cared for at the Qatar Rehabilitation Institute, while those with acute conditions that require long-term care receive care at the Enaya centre or at the Rumailah Hospital. Patients are offered all the rehabilitation services, treatments and rehabilitation equipment they require.

Rehabilitation services for everyone

The HMC community-based rehabilitation programme offers rehabilitation services to patients and provides rehabilitation support to help them return to their work and daily life while facilitating their follow-up care with the OPD clinics of Qatar Rehabilitation Institute.

HMC also collaborates with various embassies and community associations, such as the ICBF, to facilitate the repatriation of patients who prefer to return to their home country. They provide these patients with everything they need, including medication, medical devices, detailed medical report and treatment plan, to ensure they can complete their treatment in their home country.

Dr Al Hamad said that in some cases, they even arrange to have the patient accompanied by a medical team from HMC on the journey back to his or her country to ensure the continuity of care for the patient. She said that the team also coordinates with the patient’s physician in his home country and educates the patient’s family on the best ways to care for the patient.

The honorees thanked Dr Al Hamad for the gesture of appreciation and all HMC staff for their efforts to ensure the delivery of high-quality care to patients in Qatar.
