Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), in collaboration with HIMSS – Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society – will host the inaugural HIMSS Qatar Educational Conference and Health IT Exhibition from 7 to 9 December at the Sheraton Grand Doha Resort and Convention Hotel.

Organised under the umbrella of the Ministry of Public Health and in partnership with Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) and Sidra Medicine, this is a first-of-its-kind event in Qatar which will highlight the enormous clinical transformation that is underway across Qatar’s healthcare system.

Dr Abdul Wahab Al Musleh, Deputy Chief Medical Officer of Clinical Information Systems at HMC said that the event is a wonderful opportunity for all healthcare professionals, whether in clinical or support service functions, to come together to share and discuss the latest, best, and most applicable clinical information systems case studies relevant to healthcare in Qatar.

Founded in 1961 in the US, HIMSS is a global voice, advisor, and leader of health transformation through IT, with a unique breadth and depth of expertise to improve the quality, safety, and efficiency of health, healthcare, and care outcomes.

HIMMS is also very delighted to team up with HMC for the event, according to Jeremy Bonfini, Executive Vice President – Global Services of HIMSS.

The conference will focus on innovation, collaboration, and education in the IT health sector. The programme is structured around Clinical Informatics, Nursing Informatics, Diagnostic Informatics, and Health Information Management, and will feature keynote speakers, industry leaders, cutting-edge health IT products and a full scientific educational programme.’

The event will celebrate the successful implementation of the Clinical Information System in Qatar, and look at future opportunities for the country’s healthcare sector.

HMC and HIMSS have been working together in recent years, and at the end of 2016, two of HMC’s hospitals – the Heart Hospital and the National Centre for Cancer Care and Research – achieved the HIMSS Analytics Electronic Medical Record Adoption Model (EMRAM) Stage 6 distinction, an international benchmark for the use of advanced IT to improve patient care.
