Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) launched a new website, www.hamad.qa, in both English and Arabic.
The site contains information on hospitals, services, education and research endeavors, and enables visitors to check their appointment or find a doctor. In addition, there are areas where visitors can find health information, find out what to expect when visiting one of HMC’s services and also view all of HMC’s publications.
The site was launched by HMC Managing Director, Hanan Al Kuwari, PhD and Corporate Communications Executive Director, Ali Al Khater, and Abdulla Al Emadi, Executive Director for Health Information and Communications Technology (HICT) was also in attendance.
Al Khater explained how Corporate Communications Department led on the development of this new website, but said that the success of this project was down to the team effort of colleagues from across the corporation. He said:
We are delighted and proud to launch this website. It is particularly important because our web content is now available in both English and Arabic, to better cater to the needs of our population. The site has been developed with our patients in mind – we are always looking for new and improved ways to communicate with our audiences and this new website marks a significant step forwards. We see this launch as just the beginning and we are already looking to the future. We intend to continuously develop the website so it remains relevant and so we can take advantage of emerging technologies. In addition, we will be listening to what our patients and visitors to the site have to say, to make sure we are meeting their needs.’
The site is also available through mobile devices in a mobile-friendly format, due to recent statistics saying that the majority of people in Qatar prefer to access the internet through mobile devices such as smart phones and tablets.
