In line with the state’s efforts to curb the outbreak of COVID-19 in the country, Qatar Chamber (QC) is calling on its members to abide by instructions issued by official bodies, and for members who are also exporting companies to take advantage of the online service offered by the chamber.
QC issues an Online Certificate of Origin (COO) and the system was launched last year after Qatar joined other 23 other countries worldwide that use the standards of the International Chamber of Commerce in issuing COO.
Qatar Chamber Director General Saleh bin Hamad Al Sharqi said that the Chamber has adopted many measures corresponding with the state’s efforts and procedures to curb the spread of coronavirus. These measures include plans to reduce the number of employees in offices while allowing some of them to work from home.
QC now have at least four hotline numbers to answer any enquiries from merchants and businessmen:
- 4455 9122 (general enquiries)
- 4455 9187 (sectorial committees)
- 4455 5803 (media)
- 4455 9118 (other queries including membership, COO and certifications)
Al Sharqi also said that the chamber management holds daily meetings with employees to ensure the progress of work in accordance with plans. He said that the chamber is currently preparing a comprehensive plan to offer all services online.
This online system will allow businessmen to accomplish their transactions without the need to visit Qatar Chamber. The chamber’s sectorial committees are also holding meetings to minimise negative impacts of Covid-19 to the country’s economic sectors.
