In Pictures: Community Police Visit the Injured of Al Duhail Gas Explosion
On Sunday 2 March 2014, a community policing delegation from the Ministry of Interior visited the injured in gas blast that occurred on Thursday 27 February 2014 near the Landmark mall.
The gas blast occurred at 10:12 am at one of the restaurants nearby the Landmark mall and consequently, the restaurant building collapsed, leaving 11 dead and 35 others injured. Restaurant employees and customers were among the casualties.
The delegation was headed by the head of community policing section of North Security Department Lieutenant Colonel Ahmed Zayed Al Muhannadi, head of community policing section at Rayyan Security Department Lieutenant Colonel Sultan Al Kaabi and community policing officer at Capital Security Department Captain Khalifa Mubarak Al Kaabi. During the visit, the delegation handed over flower bouquet to each of the injured persons from Pakistan, India, Nepal and The Philippines.
Lieutenant Colonel Ahmed Zayed Al Muhannadi said:
We consider the expatriates community members as our brothers and as an important part of the Qatari society and we are here today with you to support you mentally and we wish you immediate recovery.’
President of Kerala Muslim Cultural Centre PSH Thangal, Pakistani community representatives Habeebullah Sheikh and Abdul Janan Faza and Filipino community representative Florante Cabrito also accompanied the delegation.
