For those of you staying in Qatar this summer and looking for ways for you and your kids to stay active, there are many sports entities in Qatar who are trying to that for you.

Aware of the soaring summer temperatures in the country, sports organisations such as Aspire Zone Foundation, Evolutions Sports Qatar, Duplays Doha and many more have set summer programmes and camps for people of all ages.

Marhaba has put together a short list of some programmes to help you and your kids stay busy this summer even if it’s Ramadan.


Yama Yoga Kids Summer Camp

Yama Yoga Summer WarriorsThe programme will include regular kids yoga and martial arts classes plus featured creative and performing arts classes including capoeira, singing, drama, zumba, acro-yoga and more. Lots of leadership activities and training will be mixed into the fun and games.

This programme is for kids between six to 13 at Yama Yoga Studios at Garvey’s.

Duplays Doha Summer Sports

Duplays Doha Summer SportsDuplays Doha is offering you the chance to be active and a variety of fun indoor sports during the summer months at Qatar International School, West Bay. All sports are open to males and females aged 18 years and over.

Create an account for free at to be a Duplays member. You will then be able to purchase a ‘Duplays Sports Pass’ for QR300 for the month of Ramadan and QR250 for the first three weeks in August. Duplays Doha ‘Ramadan’ Sports Pass will be valid from Saturday 29 June to Thursday 31 July 2014 at QR300 per person. Duplays Doha ‘Summer’ Sports Pass will be valid from Sunday 3 August until Thursday 21 August 2014 at QR250 per person.


Evolution Basketball Ramadan Camp

Evo Sports Ramadan CampFrom Sunday 13 July to Wednesday 30 July 2014, Evolution Basketball coaches Ben and Eric will be delivering specialist basketball training for children and young people at Doha College, Al Wabb at various times throughout the week (Sunday – Wednesday).

Every Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday (from Sunday 13 July 2014) Evolutions Sports Qatar’s professional and qualified trainers will deliver first-class basketball sessions. Evolutions Sports Qatar will also cater for 4 – 6 year old beginners in a 45 minute setting (8 am – 8:45 am). Also a morning (9 am – 10 am) and an evening class (9 pm – 10 pm) will be provided for 7 – 14 years to allow as many players as possible to be active during the holy month of Ramadan. (One class per day – select most convenient time).

This is a first come, first served camp and registration is simple. However, there is limited availability.

Legacy Sports and Events Summer Camp

Legacy Sports and Events is now offering a Summer Camp at the International School of London (ISL), located neat IKEA, and Qatar International School (QIS).

Summer kids camp at ISL and QIS from 29 June to 21 August 2014. Legacy Sports and Events accept children aged 4 to 15 years and will try to place children into the following age group brackets depending on participation: 4-5 yrs, 6-7 yrs, 8-10 yrs, 11-15 yrs.

Aspire Zone Indoor Fitness Initiative ‘Splash and Dash’

Splash and Dash logoEscape the summer this year by taking advantage of Aspire Zone’s brand-new indoor fitness initiative, ‘Splash and Dash’.

The community-inspired programme will enable residents to stay fit throughout the summer months by exercising at their own pace within the air-conditioned comfort of the magnificent Aspire Dome. Residents will also have the chance to get prepared for the upcoming Aquathon and Trithalon series.

In addition, South African Open Water swimmer, Philip Emslie, will be giving residents the opportunity to take part in structured triathlon and endurance training sessions during the course of the prorgamme. Alongside the swimming clinics, he will also be available on-site to give out relevant tips and advice to participants. Emslie is a world-record open water athlete, and from 2002 to 2008 he also trained as a semi-professional triathlon team swimmer.

Aspire Dome’s Indoor Athletic Track and Swimming Pool will open to the public for recreational use every Sunday and Wednesday from 7:30 pm – 9:30 pm. The programme is open to men, women and children of all ages and athletic abilities.
