InterContinental Doha Hotel Donates QR6,000 to Qatar Cancer Society

The Executive Assistant Manager F&B InterContinental Doha, Georges Khalil, presented a cheque to Salman Al Enzi, Event Manager of the Qatar Cancer Society, at a meeting at the InterContinental Doha Hotel on 22 December 2014.

Khalil said:

This year and as part of our ‘responsible business’ strategic vision, we continued with our charity auction on the awarding night of our IHG Qatar Mixed Open, where we successfully raised QR6,000 for Qatar Cancer Society. The Society is one of the leading humanitarian organisations in Qatar which pledges to work towards increasing public awareness about cancer and cancer prevention.’

Founded in 1997, the Qatar Cancer Society is a community-based organisation dedicated to controlling the cancer disease through education, advocacy, research and outreach. The society is committed to fighting cancer. The driving force behind its actions lies in the fact that almost 70% of all cancer can be avoided and controlled by preventive measures. Even so, many citizens and residents lost their lives to this disease.

Al Enzi said:

We extend our thank you and appreciation to InterContinental Hotels Group for their commitment and contribution towards our cause. Qatar Cancer Society always welcomes partnerships and agreements with various institutions to fulfill its mission to create awareness, prevent and cure cancer.’

The donated funds were collected during the 13th IHG Qatar Mixed Open annual gala dinner at the Doha Golf Club. Organised by InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) and represented by InterContinental Doha, InterContinental Doha The City and Crowne Plaza Doha The Business Park, in association with Mitsubishi Motors, the 13th IHG Qatar Mixed Open was held on 10 and 11 October 2014 at Doha Golf Club. The tournament attracts top class amateur field of 200 golfers (100 couples) from throughout the Gulf region competing in a two-day golfing agenda including a complimentary practice round followed by one tournament round played in Greensomes format over the Championship Course. The annual event, a highlight on Doha Golf Club’s schedule, not only allows GCC golfers to play on a world-class, Peter Harradine designed Championship Golf Course.
