Students from International School of London (ISL) Qatar participated in the recent Qatar Leadership Conference (QLC) as part of THIMUN. The conference serves as a platform for developing and demonstrating leadership skills in various aspects such as Model United Nations (MUN), SDG Goal Advocacy, Public Speaking and Social Activism.

Several students from the school were selected as Student Officers for the upcoming international MUN conference – THIMUN Qatar – to be held in January 2020. These include Tanya Dwivedi, Sebastian Santoni and Raseel Al Thawadi (from Grade 11). They will be attending the leadership conference for training and preparation of THIMUN Qatar 2020. From Grade 12, students Thomas Freundt and Arkan De Lomas will be attending, while Charlotte Thu Le will be presenting.

THIMUN Qatar

THIMUN Qatar offers one of the largest professional development conferences in the Middle East. Qatar Leadership Conference is designed around the concept of developing student leadership within schools specifically in MUN, service and activism, and media studies. Students and teachers participate together in workshops and conference activities. Over 130 workshops are offered over two and a half days, bringing together renowned thought leaders, professionals and educators, together with globally-minded students wishing to further their ability to be leaders in their community.

QLC has also become an important annual meeting place for globally connected young people and MUN thought leaders to exchange ideas and develop partnerships. This is the eighth year that the school is supporting student participation. Students from ISL Qatar have grown from leadership participants to presenters. They are also getting trained for student officer roles for THIMUN Qatar.

ISL Qatar has an outstanding reputation for high academic standards, prestigious International Baccalaureate (IB) programmes and an impressive record of admission to the best universities worldwide. For more information about ISL Qatar, visit the school website at islqatar.org.
