The International School of London (ISL) Qatar has recently hosted its first leg of workshop on Parenting the Love and Logic Way for parents.
ISL Qatar’s Secondary School Social Emotional Psychological Guidance Counselor Jennifer Heathcote Osborne, who presented the six-week course ‘Parenting the Love and Logic Way’ teaches techniques for parents to:
- Avoid un-winnable power-struggles and arguments
- Stay calm when kids do incredibly upsetting things
- Set enforceable limits
- Avoid enabling and begin empowering
- Help kids learn from mistakes rather than repeating them
- Raise kids who are family members rather than dictators.
The Love and Logic approach to parenting provides a variety of simple and effective strategies for parenting children through to adulthood. Parents will experience interactive real-time solutions and strategies that will help deal with everyday parenting issues.
Jennifer, a member of a team of stepped care support, offers counseling to Secondary School students in social emotional or psychological need. Highly qualified and experienced, she works in collaboration with staff and parents to ensure that each student’s social, emotional and academic needs are well served.
The school has also recently welcomed a new psychological counselor for Grades 1-6, Reinette Evert.
