Karwa buses will start charging commuters for travel starting on Sunday, 10 January.

In a notification released via the Karwa Bus app, the transport company said that commuters will be charged again ‘as usual’. Karwa has been offering free bus rides to passengers after they restarted their bus service in September 2020, following the country’s implementation of Phase 4 of the gradual lifting of restrictions due to COVID-19.

Rechargeable Karwa Smartcards will still be valid, but will not be sold through merchants or bus drivers. Limited Karwa card costs QAR10 and is good for two journeys within 24 hours upon purchase. Unlimited Karwa card costs QAR20 and is good for unlimited journeys within 24 hours upon purchase.
