The Cultural Village Foundation – Katara recently announced the winners of its photography contest, held during Katara’s Sixth Traditional Dhow Festival. Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti, General Manager of the Cultural Village Foundation – Katara and Ahmed Bin Yosuf Al Khaleefi, Head of Photography Contest jury and Head of Photographic Society presented the award to top five winners.
Al Sulaiti said:
Our sponsorship reflects Katara’s leading role and commitment to the revival of visual arts, and support of promising talent, through providing artists with all assistance and care needed, so they can succeed while continuing with their creative projects.’
Katara’s celebration of the lens’ artists aims at upgrading the proficiency levels of this remarkable genre of art, encouraging creative projects in the field of photography and supporting Qatari and Arab photographers, who convey to us and the world through their lenses, the stunning beauty of the natural landscape and the treasures of tradition, in a bid to document priceless aspects of our culture and heritage. The art of photography has proven to be a great tool used in connecting us with other cultures.’
Winners are: Saeed Mohammed Fairuz, Omar Al Surori, Abdel Aziz Esa, Esa Mohammed Abdullah and Bahir Ameen.
Esa Mohammed Abdullah, Fourth Placer, said:
It is the first time I take part in this abundant contest. I’m very happy to be one of the top five winners. I always try to take shots with a different eye and lens; which is referred to a distinguish approach that may not attract the interest of an average person.’
