The Cultural Village Foundation – Katara (Katara) announced the launch of the Katara Caricature Competition aimed at enhancing the role of caricature art as a medium of expression in the Arab world.
According to Katara General Manager Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti, the award stems from the permanent interest of Katara to provide additional medium to the Arab cultural and artistic scene. Katara plays a vital role in revitalising Arab culture through their various activities. The award, hopefully, will discover and encourage new talents as well as consolidate the presence of distinguished Arab caricature artists globally.
Drawings submitted should be especially created for the award, and must not have been published previously, on any print and online media.
Participating artists should be over 18 years old.
Each participant should submit three works of original hand drawings, not digital drawings, and texts should be written in Arabic. Entries should be scanned and saved in jpg or jpeg format. Drawings can be in colour or black and white, and the artist should place his/her signature in the drawings. The top five winners will receive cash prizes.
All entries should be emailed to [email protected]. Submission of entries will start from 20 June to 15 August.
