Katara, the Cultural Village prepares for Garangaoh festivities scheduled to take place at 7:00pm on Thursday 2nd August. Katara will celebrate Garangaoh for the second consecutive year, engaging children in a variety of fun games and activities which will take place across Katara’s grounds.

Families will gather their children in the courtyard, which is located next to building 16, at 6:30pm for the evening’s activities to begin. Participants will be taken on a guided tour of Katara to collect candy in twenty selected buildings. The aim of the game is to fill a custom-made Garangaoh bag with as much candy as possible on their journey through Katara’s alleys.

Other activities include the screening of Al Freej in collaboration with Doha Film Institute at 9:30pm in the courtyard behind the Katara Art Center, Building 5. Accompanying the screening will be five mascots from the movie, who will be entertaining children and distributing gifts.

The Ramadan programme includes other activities such as Qur’an classes, a Ramadan Souq, Book Bazaar, Islamic lectures, and Itlalet Ramadan. In addition, Katara Art Studios is also hosting a special painting program that caters to adults, families and children alike.

(All outdoor activities will be conducted in air-conditioned spaces, in order to accommodate the summer heat, allowing children to be comfortable and safe).
