LaLiga’s commitment to using education to nurture and develop talent in the sports industry is continuing, thanks to a collaboration between Aspire Zone Foundation (AZF) and LaLiga Business School, the education department of LaLiga.

The two organisations will work together to launch an MBA in Sports and Entertainment, which will be taught in Qatar in 2022.

Aspire Zone Foundation

AZF boasts some of the world’s finest sporting facilities and venues, including Aspire Academy, plus research and medical centres. AZF has been working with LaLiga since a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed in 2019, with a commitment to developing talent.

The institutions have joined forces on various projects and will now establish this MBA in Sports and Entertainment, in which the study of new marketing, digital and technological disruption transformation, media and entertainment, innovation and entrepreneurship will help prepare the future leaders of the sports and entertainment industry for Qatar, the rest of MENA and beyond.

Educational alliance

According to LaLiga Executive Director Óscar Mayo education is a key pillar of LaLiga philosophy as an institution. He said they are very happy to have the the opportunity to continue sharing LaLiga’s expertise in the Middle East, in this case, Qatar, and they are keen to learn from their  partner, Aspire Zone Foundation.

This MBA reasserts LaLiga’s commitment to professionalise the sporting sector and, in tune with our slogan, ‘It’s not football. It’s LaLiga’, this puts us at the forefront of all leagues, not just in sporting terms but in educational standards too.

AZF CEO Mohammed Khalifa Al-Suwaidi, meanwhile, added that Aspire Zone Foundation is recognised throughout the world as a pioneer in sports innovation and performance.

As a global leader, we have partnered with the most esteemed organisations in the world to help us achieve our goals. Hence, comes our partnership with LaLiga.

He said they are proud to collaborate with LaLiga to demonstrate the superiority of their integrated services model as they continue to draw ambitious inspirations from Qatar National Vision 2030.

MBA programme

The first term of this new MBA will run from February to November 2022, with in-person classes held in Doha and with monthly webinars. Additionally, this course will include the kinds of educational visits that have become a highlight of LaLiga Business School programmes, with five-day trips to London and Madrid already planned.

LaLiga Business School was established in 2018 as part of LaLiga’s mission to help professionalise the sports industry through theoretical and practical courses. It has been a major success, with content developed by professionals and directors who currently work at LaLiga, clubs, leagues or federations and who experience the sports industry every day.

Already, LaLiga Business School alumni have gone on to work at high-profile and respected organisations, from clubs such as Atlético de Madrid, Real Betis, Levante UD, RCD Mallorca, Cádiz CF or Santos FC to companies like YouFirst Sports, Kosmos or MICSports to leagues such as Liga MX or even LaLiga itself.

Now, the students of the MBA programme in Qatar can receive a tailored and high-quality education of their own, which will allow graduates to pursue their own careers in football or other areas of the ever-growing sports and entertainment industry.
