The Avenue Café at the new Steigenberger Hotel Doha looks like your usual typical lobby café. They have comfortable chairs and you’ll be greeted by the smell of baked pastries and waffles just as soon as you step in.

But don’t be fooled by appearances. This café is definitely more than meets the eye. How different is High Tea at Avenue Café?

Avenue Cafe Happy Tea
The Happy Forest Tea Tray

Well, the ‘not-so-usual’ High Tea at Avenue Café offers a selection of brews and a delectable spread of sweet treats and savoury bite-sized sandwiches served ‘buffet-style’ every Wednesday. On other days, these treats come on a rolling tray. A smaller tea tray will be served on your table with a dainty see-through teapot set. They exclusively serve the Tchaba tea brand.

We chose three flavours of their tea offering following the recommendations of their friendly staff – the soothing Ginger Zest, the minty Moroccan Nights and the fruity Happy Forest. All three came with honey on the side plus two biscuits.

A waffle maker is also on standby and you can choose your toppings – Nutella and maple syrup plus a selection of berries and nuts.

Sweet treats and savouries

Nothing enhances the soothing effect of warm tea than these sweet treats and savouries. We helped ourselves to a few and say, they definitely spoil my appetite for dinner!

If you are more of a coffee person and only take tea on occasion, going to Avenue Café will probably convince you to drink tea more. Beyond the tea though, the new venue is ideal for catching up with friends. And with restrictions easing up, nothing beats an in-person tea date. Why not have it on Avenue Café?

High Tea at Avenue Café is available daily, from 4 pm to 6 pm. Call +974 4020 1666 or visit steigenberger.com for updates and more information about the café.
