Fun and delicious – I could not think of better adjectives to describe what we had for lunch at NAUA Restaurant. But there’s another, and important one to add: HEALTHY!

Operated by the JW Marriott Marquis City Center Doha, with dishes crafted by Michelin-starred chef Tom Aikens, NAUA, meaning ‘nucleus of the seed’, is a fine-dining restaurant that promotes mindful, healthy eating with gourmet plates that will surely entice your tastebuds.

First off, we were served three different types of starters: Cauliflower & Raisin Tabbouleh, Grilled Minced Prawn Skewers, and House Made Turmeric Ricotta – so creamy and smooth… hands down the best Ricotta I’ve ever tasted! The ingredients in these dishes are not new to me, but honestly, I wasn’t able to guess what was in the food because they taste so good, I couldn’t even believe I was eating healthy food!

Now to the main courses – there was Mellow Yellow, which looked as bright yellow as it can be because of the ingredients in it (turmeric grilled chicken, cauliflower cous cous, saffron, and turmeric dressing). I tell you what, the aroma of this dish was next level; you could literally smell it heading right to you from the kitchen! Every bite of it was a party in the mouth – the juicy chicken, the texture from the cous cous and the flavours of saffron and turmeric. 10/10!

Another main course was the Black and Green, and yes, the plate looked black and green, indeed! It was black bream, pistachio, shaved fennel, courgette, and dukkah. I love how the fish was well seasoned, but not overwhelming that it complemented with the other things in the dish.

I’m not a food expert, but there’s something about healthy food and I’ve only learned about it at NAUA – healthy food fills you up, but in a way that doesn’t make you feel immobile after the meal. And the best thing about it is that it makes you feel great, knowing that what you had is good for your body.

Speaking of good, we had Vegan Chocolate Avocado & Lime and Seasonal Poached Fruits infused with Vervaine & Almond for dessert. I really enjoyed the desserts because one, they were really yummy and two, they didn’t make me feel like I’ve sinned. Imagine getting to enjoy dessert knowing it wouldn’t hurt!

Then we were served unique, exciting drinks – Aromatic Waters & Espresso Martini – the perfect way to end a hearty meal!

If you fancy a tasty, healthy lunch one of these days, NAUA Restaurant is located on the eighth floor of the 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum, and it operates Saturday to Thursday from noon until 3 pm.
