The Ministry of Administrative Development, Labor and Social Affairs (MADLSA) announced the launch of two new online services which will allow residents to request for a work permit or to amend their profession on their ID.

MADLSA update

The work permit application service (issuance of a work card) for expats in Qatar under the sponsorship of their relatives (family sponsorship), will provide a digital alternative to facilitate the application process electronically, especially if the person concerned is not brought (to Qatar) by the employer and is in the process of signing them up for employment as regular employee. Applicants need only to attach supporting documents, especially for sub-professions, in accordance with the terms and conditions of Qatar Labour Law.

Residents can now also request for amendment of their profession (or change their job title) on their QID card. This can be done either by the party concerned or by an authorised signatory, given that they attach all the required documents.

The Recruitment Department provides other online services through the Ministry’s website and through the Amerni application, available through smart devices. The introduction of two services is considered to be a continuation of the Ministry’s plan to provide various online services to individuals and companies to facilitate use of various services, and to provide digital alternatives to the public without the need to review government services, including digital certification of multi-lingual work contract, which was announced in June.

The Ministry also prepared an online directory that the concerned person or employer can refer to, to learn about service requirements, terms, conditions, and procedure steps.
